Nearly one half (48 per cent) of Canadians are either $200 or less per month away from not being able to meet all of their bills or debt obligations each month, according to a new poll conducted on behalf of MNP Debt.
That is a scary stat. It’s also a great example of why I started this site. I want to improve financial literacy among Canadians so that everyone can live within their means, enjoy life, and feel confident about their money management capabilities.
I had my first job at the age of 12 delivering flyers in the neighborhood. From their I went on to earn $5/hr at a fast food chain, $6/hr stocking shelves at an office supply store….and so on. My father took me to invest in my first mutual fund at 14. When it was time for University, I had to pay my own way. I am proud to have graduated University debt free, and I know it would have not been possible without the financial discipline that I have developed over the years.
I want to show you how to be smarter with your money, and how to not let it control your life. Saving should not be punishment. We should be able to enjoy the things we love, and celebrate our accomplishments!
My blog contains practical ideas and suggestions for saving better and spending smarter.
